Hello from your Council President

I would like to express my gratitude to Chuck Wilkening, the Council members and the Elders for their faithful leadership during this past year. Every July there is a Changing of the Council and Elders with some members remaining to complete their second year while newly elected members begin their two-year terms. Staggered two-year terms provide the necessary continuity for both the Elders and the Council.

Last month Oliver and Beth Smith hosted a dinner for incoming and outgoing members. Thank you, Beth and Oliver, for opening your home for this enjoyable social gathering.

I am your new Council president, and for those of you who don’t know me, I am a life-long Lutheran and a long-time member of St. Luke. I was raised in Minnesota where my father was a Lutheran pastor, and after graduating from college, I lived in Montana for a few years before arriving in California. Both of my sons were raised and confirmed at St. Luke. Several years after being widowed, I married a man who was sitting a few pews away – John Krogman. With our marriage I gained three daughters and we now have thirteen grandchildren. Most of my professional life has been in education; I was a faculty member in the BUS/CIS Division at De Anza College until my retirement.

During my years at St. Luke I have served on many committees and Boards, and I look forward to this year of working with the Council. This will be an exciting year and we pray that God will continue to bless our work at St. Luke! Please keep the Council in your prayers.
