What if you went to the grocery and there was absolutely nothing on the shelves? No bread, no milk, no meat, no fruits or vegetables, not even your favorite Fruity Pebbles cereal! That would be a disappointing trip to the store, to say the least.
This month we will focus on what Christ has done for us: saving us and equipping us to go and make a difference by telling others about God’s love and living generous and just lives. This is our fruit, the results of a changed life. If God comes looking for produce and finds nothing, what a disappointment!
All it takes is willingness on our part. The Spirit makes the difference and produces the fruit. It looks like this:
Galatians 5:22 But what happens when we live God’s way? He brings gifts into our lives, much the same way that fruit appears in an orchard—things like affection for others, exuberance about life, serenity. We develop a willingness to stick with things, a sense of compassion in the heart, and a conviction that a basic holiness permeates things and people. We find ourselves involved in loyal commitments, not needing to force our way in life, able to marshal and direct our energies wisely.
May this month be filled with a surprising emergence of Spiritgenerated activity and attitudes that bring joy to the heart of your Heavenly Father.
I’m glad to be on this journey with you and can’t wait to see what happens next!
Peace and blessings to you.
