Greetings

Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Thank you to the youth of the congregation for their outstanding presentation this past month. They have worked hard on many outreach projects expressing what God asks us to do. I have a deep sense of sadness this past month with the shooting at the school in Florida. The youth today need the love of Jesus and their families. We see this with the support that this congregation is giving them and are thankful for Andy, Faith, and all others that encourage them.

We thank Janet, Oliver, and Sue for their work in putting together our new budget for 2018. With the approval of the budget and ministry plan by congregation we will be looking forward to growth in the future.

Joyce Masterson has been working with Garchina Landscaping on the Memorial Garden’s drip system. Because of the cost we are putting this project on hold for the time being.

Denise Tsang, Maggie Cogdill, and Joyce Masterson are working to resolve the Kurtz Hall dishwasher problem. A plumbing contractor is being asked if it can be repaired and what the cost would be. If the proposal becomes exorbitant the Council will have to decide to repair or replace the unit. Either way the dishwasher problem should be resolved.

Hopefully, the AV system for property security can be installed shortly. The contractor has a few items that need to be completed before the City of Sunnyvale will sign off on the Youth Outpost. Once this is done, we can move forward. Thanks to those working on this effort.

The additional space with the new fencing that was given to ACP to help them with more playground area also created a problem. The AA group have been using the youth room for many years and with the new fencing those rooms were inside the play area. Their starting time at 6:00 P.M during the week conflicts with state law regarding ACP and children. Erin Cassidy, (ACP director), had a meeting with members of the council to highlight the problem. Prior to the meeting Denise Tsang had contacted AA and asked them if they could move their starting time to 7:00 P.M. After checking with their officials about the time change, Denise was able to report that they will move their starting time to 7:00 P.M. Thanks to AA and Denise for solving this problem amicably. Mike is working with the Chinese School to insure they have the correct license for their operation.

Thanks to Linda Baginski, who joined us from St. John, the First Aid Kits in the sanctuary, Kurtz Hall and the ACP building have been upgraded.

We have the paint and equipment to paint Kurtz Hall and all we need is good warm weather. No experience is necessary so if the weather cooperates set aside some time to come over and paint for a couple hours on work day. Goodies and coffee provided at no charge.

In closing, I want to remind everyone to pray for the youth in our country for peace, protection and guidance.

Peace,
Chuck Wilkening
