Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men, for he satisfies the thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.

September was an especially exciting month at St. Luke. We had Rally Day which included, the dedication of the Youth Outpost in Pastor Bob’s name, the combined choirs of St. John and St. Luke singing and worshipping with us, our last summer picnic which raised $400 for Fish, and a bake sale. A big thank you to all those who helped preparing the final barbeque of the year, it was fantastic. We had a wonderful opportunity to visit with our missionaries, the Leiyoole’s, and hear of all the incredible work they are doing in Kenya. Again, we want to thank everyone that helped make the Leiyoole’s’ visit special.

Our classes have started again with Sunday school, Amy’s Martin Luther class, Confirmation classes, Wednesday morning Bible study, Thursday night Women’s and Men’s Bible Study, Financial Peace University, choir and bell choir. There are many opportunities for participation.

The Confirmation class has 24 confirmands this year. A new program is being offered that will give them the option of doing a service project for the church rather than having to present an oral presentation at Confirmation. The Endowment Committee has set monies aside to help them with their projects. We are certainly blessed to have this many young people learning about Christ.

Mary Hendrickson has taken on the task of updating the Continuous Resolutions of the Constitution. Each chair of the Council will have an opportunity to go over their portion and bring it up-to-date. What the final outcome will be is that each team will have guidelines as to what their function is. This will also help when someone is approached for a Council position so that they will be able to understand what their job would entail.

A suggestion for an elevator to the choir loft was introduced but is tabled for now. The lighting of the steps to the choir loft has been completed by Bill Titlow for safety reasons.

In case you like to play basketball there is now an official three-point line that Lynn Farrens helped create.

The new church year provides stimulating and fulfilling opportunities to spread God’s word and love.
