On September 22nd, we had a Youth Lock-in in the Youth Outpost! We had a group of 10 youth throughout the night and we spent many hours playing sardines and watching movies. We had a great study with Pastor Bob about God’s forgiveness and the legal system- how we govern ourselves and how our decisions will affect us in the future. On October 6th, we had a great Youth Group event at LaserQuest in San Jose. There was a turnout of 20 middle school and high school youth and we had a great time playing laser tag and enjoying pizza.
My name is Faith Peters and I am the new Youth Activities Coordinator! I have lived in Mountain View most of my life and my family has been a part of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Los Altos for the past 20 years. I have been very involved at Immanuel, working at VBS, attending youth group and interning with the church during my first summer after college. In recent news, I graduated from University of California, Santa Barbara in June 2017 with a degree in Biological Sciences and I am currently taking nursing school prerequisites at Foothill College in order to apply to nursing schools within the next year or two. From my past experience and involvement with Immanuel, the youth director, Danny Dye, got me in touch with Pastor Bob and I am very grateful for this opportunity. All the youth I have met have been great and they have expressed great interest in having more youth activities. In the coming months, I am very excited to get a youth group started in which middle school and high school youth can come together and reconnect and have fun after a week apart. Many of the youth have told me how much they enjoy multi-church events, so we are in the planning stages for some amazing events with churches in the area! Another great idea I’ve gotten from the youth is an after school study group, so we’ll see where the year takes us and what other ideas we can come up with. I want to keep the youth excited and involved so that youth group and church can be for them what it was for me. I am very excited and privileged to be working with the St. Luke youth and I cannot wait for the year ahead!
