Happy Holiday season everyone! November 9th-11th, two youth and I went to Mt. Cross Ministries for a Confirmation retreat! This retreat was planned and executed by high school students in the Sierra Pacific Synod Youth Committee. They had many great events planned and the girls had a lot of fun. Annually, there are elementary, middle school and high school retreats, so I hope we can attend more in the coming years.
In October, we were focused on the youth skit about Abram’s call. We had two practices for the skit and the youth practiced at home to make this skit a success! We also went to Comedy Sportz in San Jose for a multi-gen comedy show. It was their Halloween Spooktakular and it was a lot of fun.
Coming up in November, we have a lot to do! On November 3rd, we will be going to LaserQuest in Belmont for a fun time with friends. We will play two games and have pizza; the cost will be around $20/player.
On April 28th, we had our first St. Luke Bingo Night! The night was a lot of fun and I love to hear that many of you would like to do it again! We had around 35 participants and raised $700! Thank you to all of you that donated or attended the fundraiser!
May was a big time of planning for Confirmation Sunday and the National Youth Gathering! We had seven 8th graders that confirmed their faiths, sharing great stories about how God has led them through life and how they want to share their gifts with others. We also are fully booked for the National Youth Gathering and will be traveling on June 26th with Immanuel Lutheran Church!
April was a big time for planning for the youth! We had our Bingo Fundraiser on April 28th, so I will have to update about that in the May newsletter! We are also working with the confirmands to lead them in writing their God Stories and creating banners that they will have on Confirmation Sunday (May 20th). We have seven confirmands this year and some have decided to take on a project in the community to show how God works through them!
On April 7th, we had a Multi-Church LaserQuest event and we had 15 youth from St. Luke, 10 from Immanuel Lutheran, Los Altos, and a couple friends! We had a fun night hanging out, eating pizza and playing laser tag. I’m already being asked if we can do it again!
March was a great fundraising month for the youth! We have been working to raise funds for the ELCA National Youth Gathering and we are happy to report that we have raised over $1,300! Huge thank you to those that donated time, money and food to the Pennies for Pies and PB&J Sandwich Shop fundraisers, we had a lot of fun!
On March 24th, we planned a trip to Comedy Sportz, a family-friendly improv show, in San Jose. We had a group of 20 people, youth and families, and it was an evening full of laughs!
Looking to April, our first youth event is LaserQuest on Saturday, April 7th! We will be meeting with Immanuel Lutheran Church at 5:30pm, eating pizza and playing two games of laser tag!
