September is here, school is beginning, and St. Luke is starting to hum with the preparations for Rally Day on the 10th of this month. You will notice some new things this fall. We will have our friends from St. John Lutheran Church in Sunnyvale worship with us on Rally Day as we continue our talks about a potential merger of our churches. Think of a friend or neighbor you can invite to join you for Rally Day.
You also might have noticed that we have two recent additions to our staff and they both bring creativity and vitality to our community.
Erin Cassidy is our Children’s Ministry Director. She will be working with families and their children from infants to fifth graders. She will work in tandem with Lorrie Peterson, our Sunday School Superintendent and the volunteers and staff of the nursery and Sunday school classes.
Faith Peters is our Youth Activities Coordinator. She will be working with our middle and high school groups. Faith will be helping to teach the Confirmation class and will be setting up events during the week for our youth.
Look for articles in this newsletter from each of these talented people that God has raised up to enhance our ministry at St. Luke.
We will be starting a new Financial Peace University class on September 20th. In this popular class, people learn how to manage money God’s way. Most participants pay off a significant amount of debt during the class as they learn from scripture how to be good stewards. Let me know if you would like to take part in the class.
On the 24th we will have our missionaries, Julia and Vincent Leiyoole, with us. You won’t want to miss their tales of God’s mighty work in Kenya!
My prayers are with you as we enter into this joyful season together.
See you in church.
