There is a weekly gathering of hotrod and classic car folks that takes place in the parking lot of a Mojo’s Burger place on Thursday evenings not too far from where I live. I’ve seen these guys (and some gals) several times when I’ve been doing some shopping at the nearby grocery store. A few months back I stopped and asked about who they were, how often they meet, etc. with the thought that I’d bring my ’69 Resto-mod Roadrunner to show off at some point. About a week ago the situation for a visit to them presented itself as I decided to bring the car to the Thursday men’s bbq/bible study to show the guys. I had some extra time and the shopping center is not too far off my route to St. Luke so I decided to drop in on the group.
As we prepare for Pledge Sunday, November 6, St. Luke invites you to join us in gaining a deeper understanding of Stewardship through a new study, The 33 Laws of Stewardship. The 33 Laws of Stewardship is accompanied by a daily guide, 33 Days of Stewardship. This study is a journey into a deeper relationship with God. It’s an exploration of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ – especially in the stewardship of all that God entrusts to us.
“If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.” Luke 9:24
When have you faced a loss that ended up bringing benefit to you and to others? Maybe you were tired and didn’t want to go out but a friend needed some help and you dragged yourself off to be of assistance. It ended up being an experience you wouldn’t have missed for the world and the good feeling you had lasted for weeks affecting many other areas of your life.
